Art is how we decorate space, music is how we decorate time.

JOIN THE ADVENTURE
The Cycling Carnaval is a 10-day cycling adventure from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro. There’s a beautiful message hidden in this journey and we will help 2 really good social projects but in the end it all boils down to celebrating life. Maybe that’s why this trip ends at the biggest carnaval in the world.
Also in this journey we cycle to discover & connect. Like cycling, music and celebrating are powerful connecting tools. That’s why we invite you to bring your instrument. You don’t have to by the way, your cycling vibe already makes people dance. This trip will raise money for 2 social projects.
Mais Caminhos is an educational project in Rio de Janeiro for underprivileged children and teenagers. In this project we will raise money to buy musical instruments for the children that live in the favela of Cantagalo Pavaozinho. Mais Caminho wants to teach their children music because they recognize it’s an empowering tool for the brain. Mais Caminhos is part of the number 1 language school in Rio de Janeiro. They are proactive and use their creativity and open mind with other parties to reach their social goals. Here’s a short video on the –> social project.
This art project aims to contribute to society through mural paintings. Mural paintings have been implemented throughout the world since research discovered the positive social impact it has. The talented artist Nadia from Buenos Aires has herself a handicapped brother as she will make mural paintings in Rio de Janeiro. Art, like music, is a form of self-development and it stimulates the brain and new connections. The artist will also give free art-workshops. Besides that, not only does this art project communicate a message, it also stimulates the carreer of a young artist who is devoted in making art for the benefit of others.
Exercise, travel, art, and music all play a significant role in the stimulation of our brain and emotions. Look at the Cycling Carnaval like an event that nourishes cognitive skills, stimulates creativity, and personal growth. It combines disciplines like music, cycling and the experience upload that comes with travel. Why is this important to us? Because experience – like cycling the world – changes the brain. It expands, you make new connections, you grow as a human being. That’s why we want to share this message and give something concrete through a cyclist’s experience and through music instruments which can also stimulate the brain. To narrow it down, a tweetable Cycling for Stars message could be: “You might want to develop yourself in one of those areas. Do it for fun. You will make the connections later.”
It’s a 10-day trip from the 15th of February untill the 24th of February. For those who want to stay longer that’s obviously no problem. We will stay at locals, pousadas and campsites, depending on the costs involved. The route is flexible but we will cycle within the following framework: Sao Paulo (by bus) –> Ubatuba –> Paraty –> Angra dos Reis –> Pedra de Guaratiba –> Rio de Janeiro.
The total disctance of cycling will be about 400 km. In Rio we will have enough time for activities to discover this incredible city. For your information, I have great personal affinity with the social projects involved and with Rio de Janeiro itself since I have been working and living there for several years.
- The maximum number of participants is 10.
- You are responsible for taking your own bicycle with you unless you ask us to arrange bicycle (and perhaps the Ortlieb cycling bags).
- You pay and arrange your own flights.
- You raise / pay a minimum of 1000 euro for the social projects, and the organisation of the trip. This amount includes (basic) accommodation, also during carnaval in Rio de Janeiro and the busride from Sao Paolo. There is no maximum contribution so knock yourself out. Every euro will be invested in the social projects and future trips like this.
We encourage to have yourself sponsored to reach the minimum of 1000 euro. In our former trips for example people could sponsor per kilometer. To give you an idea family, friends, work, local grocery, companies would all sponsor X km and every km on the road would have the equivalant of let’s say 1 euro. So if I sponsor you 10 km then this would be 10 euro. This is not only a financial matter but it will involve more people in the Cycling for Stars project and the projects we support through cycling in the future. It will also attract people / cyclists who are motivated to look at this trip more than just a holiday.
